Automated Intraoral 3D Scanner Using Low Coherence Ranging |
abstract |
The intraoral scanning device has a source of low coherent light. The interferometer directs low-coherence light to the reference and sample paths, and generates image data from the interference from the combined light returning along the reference and sample paths. The holder is optically coupled to the sample path and has an occlusal portion featuring an occlusal portion for sandwiching between the patient's jaws, a track defining a curved scan path for scanning, configured to guide the sample path light to the teeth and to guide light from the sample path. One or more scanners of the sample path light of the tooth and actuators and translation means that push the one or more scanners along the curved scan path. The control logic processor synchronizes light scanning and acquisition from the holder. A display is in signal communication with the control logic processor for displaying the acquired scan data. |
