abstract |
The present invention relates to a method of improving the corrosion resistance of a chrome-plated substrate, wherein at least a portion of the chrome-plated surface of the chrome-plated substrate is immersed in an electrolyte comprising trivalent chromium ions, at least one conductive salt and at least one reducing agent, and then passed through the chrome-plated substrate. A pulsed reverse current is applied between the surface and a counter electrode electrically connected to the chrome-plated surface through an electrolyte to form a trivalent chromium oxide film on at least a portion of the chrome-plated surface. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a chrome-plated substrate obtainable by this method. |
