titleOfInvention | Electrowetting contact lens and eye-mountable accommodation device |
abstract | The present disclosure describes electrowetting contact lenses that include electrowetting-containing cells. The unit includes a first optical window and a second optical window forming a sealed enclosure. A first electrode is formed on the first optical window and a second electrode is formed on the second optical window. The first and second electrodes comprise conductive layers, the first electrode comprising at least one dielectric layer sandwiched between an associated optical window and the at least one dielectric layer. The oil layer and the brine layer are located in a sealed housing such that the oil is in contact with one electrode and the brine is in contact with the other electrode. The protective coating surrounds the electrowetting cell and the contact lens material surrounds the sealing material. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed. |
