The present disclosure relates to an injectable formulation for delivering a bioactive agent to a target site, the injectable formulation comprising a trimethylene carbonate (TMC) based biodegradable polymer having a mole fraction of polylactic acid (PLA) ) and/or polyglycolic acid (PGA). Excipients such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) can be added to the formulation to reduce injection force and/or to modulate the release of the bioactive agent. Suitable biodegradable polymers for injectable formulations include D,L-PLA:TMC, D-PLA:TMC, L-PLA:TMC, TMC:PLA:PGA and variants thereof. Additionally, copolymers of TMC and PLA and TMC:PLA:PGA terpolymers can be formed into nanoparticles and delivered to target sites with an injectable cross-linkable polyethylene glycol system. In at least one embodiment, the injectable formulation is used to treat eye disease. |
