Diagnostic and therapeutic reagents |
abstract |
Diagnostic therapeutic agents can be used in photoacoustic imaging (PAI) and photothermal therapy (PTT) applications. Diagnostic therapeutic agents may include small molecule organic compounds that have absorption in the near infrared (NIR) interrogation window (700-900 nm). The compound is a biocompatible organic nanoparticle (ONP). Diagnostic therapeutic agents are effective for PAI and PAI-guided PTT applications. Diagnostic therapeutic agents can be administered to patients and in vivo imaging techniques can be used to locate tumor sites. After the tumor location is determined, the tumor site can be irradiated with near-infrared light to stop or inhibit tumor growth. |
