The present invention relates to a process for converting oxygenates to olefins comprising: (i) providing a gas stream comprising one or more oxygenates; and (ii) contacting the gas stream with a catalyst; wherein the catalyst comprises a catalyst having a catalyst comprising YO 2 And X 2 O 3 Wherein Y is a tetravalent element and X is a trivalent element, obtainable and/or obtained according to a process comprising the steps of: (1) preparation of a composition comprising one or more YO 2 Source of material, one or more X 2 O 3 A mixture of a source and one or more solvents; and (2) crystallizing the mixture obtained in step (1) to obtain a zeolitic material having an MFI, MEL, and/or MWW-type framework structure; wherein the mixture crystallized in step (2) comprises YO in an amount of 100 wt% 2 3% by weight or less of one or more elements M, wherein M represents sodium. |
