abstract | An exemplary ophthalmic apparatus for impedance-based measurement of hydration of an ophthalmic apparatus includes a housing having a shape to be worn on an eye, an insert disposed on the housing, control electronics disposed on the insert, and a plurality of electrodes disposed within the housing and electrically coupled to the control electronics, the control electronics coupled to control operation of the ophthalmic apparatus, the plurality of electrodes disposed outside a central optical region of the ophthalmic apparatus, and wherein each of the plurality of electrodes is electrically coupled to receive a respective voltage from the control electronics to measure an impedance of the housing proximate the plurality of electrodes, the measured impedance indicative of a hydration level of the housing proximate the plurality of electrodes. |
