abstract |
Packaging systems and methods for storing a bioprosthetic device including bioprosthetic tissue and maintaining a target relative humidity over a temperature range are disclosed. The packaging system includes a sealed package defining an interior space having an inner volume, and a humidity control device and a bioprosthetic device within the interior space. The humidity control device includes a barrier defining an enclosed space and a humidity control solution containing glycerin in the enclosed space. At least a portion of the barrier includes a breathable membrane. A target relative humidity is provided within the inner volume of the sealed package, and the control device maintains the target relative humidity over a temperature range by selectively releasing and absorbing water vapor. |
