abstract |
A method, system and machine for assisting a pathologist in identifying the presence of tumor cells in lymph node tissue is disclosed. A digital image of lymph node tissue at a first magnification (eg, 40X) is subdivided into a plurality of rectangular "tiles." A malignancy likelihood score is then determined for each tile. The score is obtained by analyzing the pixel data from the tile (eg, centered on and including the pixel data of the tile) using a computer system programmed as an ensemble of deep neural network pattern recognizers, each deep neural network The pattern recognizer operates on different magnification levels of the tile.
