abstract |
Provides a pre-impregnated composite material (prepreg) that can be cured/molded to form a composite part that has a high level of compressive strength at room temperature in dry conditions and retains its compressive strength. Pre-impregnated composites include reinforcing fibers and an uncured resin matrix. The uncured resin matrix includes a resinous component composed of one or more difunctional epoxy resins and polyfunctional epoxy resins. The uncured resin matrix further includes a thermoplastic particulate component, a thermoplastic toughening agent, and a curing agent. The thermoplastic particle component includes a mixture of a first set of polyamide particles that do not contain crosslinked polyamide and a second set of polyamide particles that contain crosslinked polyamide. |
