abstract | The present invention relates to a medical delivery device comprising a cartridge having an inner surface, and in at least one embodiment, the inner surface is hydrophilic. The medical delivery device can also include a plug, which can have an elastomeric body, one or more fluoropolymer layers, and two or more ribs laminated to the one or more fluoropolymer layers. In some embodiments, the contact angle of the inner surface of the barrel is less than about 58°. Additionally, the plug includes a sliding surface of less than about 2.0 mm. The cartridge provides an inner surface that, in combination with a fluoropolymer laminate or fluoropolymer film, achieves a high level of air and liquid impermeability, while also maintaining acceptably low break release force, low average sliding force, and low Sliding force changes. In some embodiments, the compressibility of the plug relative to the barrel is greater than about 7.9%. |
