Fluid delivery device with controller assembly and method of use |
abstract |
A method of administering to a patient in need thereof, suitable for the treatment of cyclic migraine or cluster migraine, comprises arranging a mounting surface of a fluid delivery device with medicine in contact with at least a portion of the patient's skin. The flow rate of the medication from the fluid delivery device can be adjusted so that the medication is delivered to the patient at least for a predetermined period of time. The fluid delivery device includes a controller assembly having a body portion defining an axis and a plunger member slidably coupled to the body member. The plunger is positionable between a first position where the plunger is closest to the body member and a second position where the plunger member is furthest away from the body the location of the part. A biasing assembly is positioned between the body member and the plunger member. The biasing assembly is configured to apply a two-stage force distribution to the plunger member. Also disclosed is a method for administering sumatriptan to a patient in need such that Cmax , Tmax , and AUC are all within predetermined, therapeutically effective values. |
