The nozzle assembly includes a fixed frame (44) and a nozzle array (56) through which the hair dye is delivered to the hair, and a plurality of filaments (84) near the nozzle (64) that are longer than the nozzle and serve as nozzles and scalp separation between. The motor (30) reciprocates the nozzle array (56) back and forth as the hair dye moves through the nozzles (64).
