titleOfInvention | Organ preservation and/or perfusion solutions |
abstract | Organ preservation and/or perfusion solutions for isolated tissues or organs are provided. The solution contains dextran, glucose, calcium ions, buffer and water, has a pH of 6.6 to 7.8, and is sterile on the basis that it has been heat sterilized. Methods of preparing the solutions are also provided. The method includes combining dextran, glucose, calcium ions, buffer and water to obtain an initial solution, adjusting the pH of the initial solution to 7.0 to 7.8 if necessary, and heat sterilizing the initial solution to obtain an organ Preservation and/or perfusion solution. Also provided are methods of preserving and/or perfusing the isolated tissue or organ. Also provided are methods for flushing, storing and/or transporting the isolated lung after removal from the donor in preparation for eventual transplantation into the recipient. |
