The present invention relates to methods for producing recombinant HIV glycoprotein polypeptides in plants, as well as recombinant, plant-produced HIV glycoprotein polypeptide trimeric complexes that mimic the native HIV Env complex. The present invention also relates to nucleic acids encoding recombinant polypeptides, expression vectors comprising the aforementioned nucleic acids, and pharmaceutical compositions, uses and methods for eliciting an immune response against HIV in a subject using the recombinant polypeptides and trimer complexes. |
