abstract The present invention discloses a concept and method for assessing the diversity and similarity of microbial community metagenomics (or general biological community metagenomics), including the use of Hill numbers to measure single gene levels (Metagenomic Gene: MG) and functional gene groups (Metagenomic Functional Gene Cluster: MFGC) level of metagenomic diversity and its similarity. Among them, diversity includes alpha-metagene diversity, beta-metagene diversity and gamma-metagene diversity, and similarity is used to compare the metagene diversity of two or more communities. The metagenomic diversity index can effectively evaluate and monitor the metagenomic diversity and similarity of human, animal and environmental microbial communities, and provide a scientific basis and technical system for the research, diagnosis and treatment of flora-related diseases and the monitoring of environmental microbial metagenomics. The present invention is also applicable to Metagenetic Diversity, and can be used to evaluate and monitor the Metagenetic Diversity and similarity of any biological community.
