abstract | Embodiments of the method of the present invention for convective intracellular delivery include providing cells and molecules to a microchannel having a compressed surface, wherein the compressed surface defines a compressed gap having a height of 20%-80% of the average cell diameter; and a plurality of slack spaces disposed between the compressing surfaces; allowing the cell medium to flow through the microchannel, wherein as the cell medium flows through the microchannel, the plurality of cells undergo a convective intracellular transport process comprising: compressing the plurality of cells, wherein the compression causes the plurality of cells to undergo a decrease in intracellular volume (V decrease ); and passing the plurality of cells into the first relaxation space, wherein the plurality of cells undergo an increase in volume (V increase ) and absorb the plurality of molecules part. |
