The present invention relates to a new component of polyorganic functional group modified silica gel, including a wide range of different functional groups such as mercapto, sulfide, thiourea, amine and amide in the same component, and each functional group is represented by a variety of different oligomers, structures and stereochemicals. Arrays exist with strong affinity for metals and specific targets. Combining many of these functional groups in the same composition enhances the overall affinity of the functionalized material. Binding to different structural configurations further facilitates its binding to targets present in a variety of different structural morphologies in the fluid. This multiple binding mechanism enables a high degree of fluid purification, targeted removal and selectivity.
