abstract The present invention provides a protective film which can be appropriately fixed in a battery around a portion where the metal foil exposed portion of an electrode is welded, has little thermal shrinkage due to high temperature during welding, and is excellent in insulating properties. The protective film is used for a battery having an electrode having a metal foil and an active material layer located on the surface of the metal foil, the electrode is provided with a metal foil exposed portion exposing the metal foil, and the protective film protects the metal foil. At least a part of the periphery of the portion where the metal foil exposed portion of the electrode and the metal terminal are welded, and the protective film includes at least a first heat-fusible resin layer having adhesiveness, a heat-resistant intermediate layer, and a second heat-fusible resin layer in this order. A coatable resin layer, wherein the first thermally weldable resin layer constitutes one surface of the protective film.
