abstract | The surface structured articles disclosed herein comprise a polymer matrix and a dispersed phase, the article having a first major surface and an opposing second major surface, at least a portion of the first major surface being a microstructured anisotropic surface , the microstructured anisotropic surface comprises features having at least one dimension in the range of 1 micron to 500 microns, wherein the dispersed phase comprises antimicrobial material, and wherein at least a portion of the dispersed phase is present on the microstructured anisotropic surface. Surface structured articles can be used, for example, in marine applications (eg, surfaces in contact with water (eg, fresh water, sea water)) such as boats, ships, bridge piers, oil rigs, decks, and roofing materials. |
