The present invention provides an aluminum alloy foil which, when used in a battery packaging material, is less likely to cause pinholes and cracks due to molding of the battery packaging material, and can exhibit excellent formability. The aluminum alloy foil is an aluminum alloy foil used for a packaging material for batteries, and the aluminum alloy foil is cut in a direction perpendicular to the rolling direction of the aluminum alloy foil and from the surface of the aluminum alloy foil in the vertical direction. The ratio of the total area of {111} planes to the total area of the crystal planes of the face-centered cubic lattice structure obtained by crystallographic analysis by the EBSD method is 10% or more, and the crystallographic analysis of the cross-section is carried out by the EBSD method. On the other hand, the number-average crystal grain size R (μm) of the crystals of the obtained face-centered cubic lattice structure satisfies the following formula. The number-average grain size R≤0.056X+2.0, where X=thickness (μm) of the above-mentioned aluminum alloy foil. |
