Antimicrobial aqueous ink composition comprising water-soluble sodium sulfonated polyester |
abstract |
A composite material comprising: a matrix of sodium sulfonated polyester; wherein the sodium sulfonated polyester has a degree of sulfonation of at least about 3.5 mole percent; and a plurality of silver nanoparticles dispersed within the matrix. An aqueous ink composition comprising: water; optional co-solvents; optional colorants; and a composite comprising a sodium sulfonated polyester matrix; wherein the sodium sulfonated polyester has at least about 3.5 mol % a degree of sulfonation; and a plurality of silver nanoparticles dispersed within the matrix. A method comprising: heating a sodium sulfonated polyester resin in water, wherein the sodium sulfonated polyester has a degree of sulfonation of at least about 3.5 mole percent; adding a solution of silver(I) ions to the heated water resin, to form a mixture; optionally, adding a reducing agent to the mixture; forming an emulsion of composite particles comprising a sodium sulfonated polyester matrix and a plurality of silver nanoparticles disposed within the sodium sulfonated polyester matrix. |
