The circular polarizing plate of the present invention has a polarizer, a λ/2 plate and a λ/4 plate in this order, and the angle formed by the absorption axis of the polarizer and the in-plane slow axis of the λ/4 plate is in the range of 20° to 70° The Nz factor of the λ/4 plate is 0.30 to 0.70, the absorption axis of the polarizer is orthogonal or parallel to the in-plane slow axis of the λ/2 plate, and the absorption axis of the polarizer is in the plane of the λ/2 plate.
