abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a final heterophasic propylene copolymer (a), wherein the final heterophasic propylene copolymer (a) has a final melt flow rate of 65 to 110dg/min, measured according to ISO1133 at 230 ℃ and 2.16kg, comprising visbreaking a heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate (a ') having an intermediate melt flow rate, wherein the intermediate melt flow rate is less than the final melt flow rate, to obtain the final heterophasic propylene copolymer, wherein the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate (a') consists of (a) a propylene-based matrix and (b) a dispersed ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer, wherein the propylene-based matrix consists of a propylene homopolymer, wherein the propylene-based matrix has a melt flow rate of 75 to 85dg/min, measured according to ISO1133 at 230 ℃ and 2.16kg, wherein the ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer comprises an amount of ethylene of 45 dg/min of the ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer -55 wt%, wherein the amount of ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer is less than 15 wt% and at least 10 wt%, based on the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate, wherein the melt flow rate of the ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer is from 0.50 to 2.0dg/min, calculated according to the following general formula (I): wherein MFR Multi-phase Is the melt flow rate, MFR, of the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate measured according to ISO1133(2.16kg/230 ℃) PP The MFR of the propylene based matrix of the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate, measured according to ISO1133(2.16kg/230 ℃), the matrix content being the amount of the propylene based matrix in the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate, and the rubber content being the amount of the dispersed ethylene-a-olefin copolymer in the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate, wherein the total amount of propylene based matrix and the total amount of dispersed ethylene-a-olefin copolymer in the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate add up to 100 wt%, based on the heterophasic propylene copolymer intermediate. |
