abstract A sports ball is provided that includes an epidermis having an outer matrix surface. The skin may comprise a plurality of panels, wherein each panel has a corresponding panel surface. The panel surfaces of the respective panels collectively comprise the outer matrix surface of the skin. The surface texture is disposed on and additionally applied to the outer matrix surface. Surface textures are provided on corresponding panel surfaces in customizable, panel-specific, predefined panel arrangements. The surface texture defines a surface profile that includes a series of alternating and repeating land regions and raised portions, wherein each raised portion is located between a plurality of land regions. Raised portions extend from the outer matrix surface and are formed of dimensional ink, wherein each of the plurality of raised portions has a tip spaced from the outer matrix by a height greater than about 0.05 millimeters (mm).
