abstract |
An aqueous matte coating composition and method of applying the aqueous matt coating composition to a substrate are disclosed. The composition includes (a) 10 wt% to 65 wt% first acrylic beads having a calculated glass transition temperature ("Tg") of -30°C to 10°C and an average particle size is 0.1 μm to 2 μm; (b) 20 wt % to 80 wt % second acrylic beads having a calculated Tg of −60° C. to 0° C. and an average particle size of 0.5 μm to 30 μm; Optionally (c) 10 wt % to 30 wt % of a polymeric binder having an average particle size of 0.03 μm to 0.5 μm; and (d) a slip additive. In some embodiments, the slip additives include silicone emulsions and wax dispersions. In some embodiments, the slip additive includes a polyurethane dispersion. Also disclosed are methods of applying the aqueous matte coating compositions. |
