In a liquid crystal display element including a first substrate, a plurality of pixel electrodes formed on the first substrate, a second substrate, a counter electrode formed on the second substrate and facing the pixel electrodes, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the pixel electrodes and the counter electrode, ultraviolet rays are irradiated at a specific illuminance without applying a voltage to a polymerizable polar compound contained in the liquid crystal layer in a first stage, and ultraviolet rays are irradiated at a specific illuminance while applying a predetermined voltage in a second stage. |
