Distance-based tumor classification |
abstract |
The present invention relates to an image analysis system (100) for tumor classification. The system is configured to: - receive (202) at least one digital image (118) of a tissue sample of a patient; - analyze (204) the at least one received image to identify tumor cells in a region of the at least one received image; - analyzing (206) the at least one received image to identify FAP+ regions in said region, each FAP+ region being a pixel spot representing one or more cells expressing fibroblast activation protein - "FAP" - analyze (208) the at least one received image to identify the distance between the identified tumor cells and their respective nearest FAP+ regions; - calculate (210) a proximity measure as a function of the identified distance; - by classification The processor processes (212) the proximity metric to generate a classification result indicating whether the patient's tumor can be effectively treated by the FAP-binding drug or drug component; and - outputting (214) the classification result. |
