A method and system for operating a filling station pipe trailer and compressor to reduce hydrogenation costs is provided. The refueling station includes a dual layer fuel supply pressure vessel on a refueling station pipe trailer having first and second layer pressure vessels including at least one or more pressure vessels connected together. Separate control units are coupled to the first and second layers of pressure vessels, each control unit being coupled to a compressor. The compressor is coupled to the high pressure buffer memory by a separate control unit. In operation, pressure is monitored in each layer. Hydrogen is selectively combined between the first layer pressure vessel bank, the second layer pressure vessel and the high pressure buffer. Based on the monitored pressure, the vehicle is filled using one of the first layer of pressure vessels, the second layer of pressure vessels, and the high pressure buffer. |
