abstract The invention relates to a catalyst composition for ethylene oligomerization, which comprises a ligand compound shown in a formula I, a transition metal compound and an alkane solution containing an aluminum cocatalyst; wherein R is selected from alkyl, cycloalkyl and aryl; r' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, and halogen. The invention also relates to the use of said catalyst composition. The catalyst composition of the invention has high activity; meanwhile, the aromatic solvent is not used in the polymerization reaction, and a high-quality product can be obtained.
