titleOfInvention | Dual metallocene catalyst copolymer composition |
abstract | Methods are provided that include copolymerization using two different metallocene catalysts, one metallocene catalyst capable of producing high Mooney viscosity polymers and one metallocene catalyst suitable for producing low Mooney viscosity polymers having at least a portion of vinyl terminations Viscous polymer. The two catalysts can be used together in polymerization to produce copolymer compositions with particularly well-tuned properties. For example, polymerization is believed to produce high Mooney metallocene polymers that exhibit excellent processability and elasticity despite their high Mooney viscosities. Other polymerizations are also contemplated in which low Mooney metallocene polymers are prepared that also exhibit excellent processability and elasticity, while additionally possessing excellent cure properties suitable for curable elastomer compound applications . Many of the polymerizations considered include controlling the ratio of the two metallocene catalysts used in the polymerization such that the desired Mooney viscosity and desired rheology (indicated by the Mooney relaxation area) of the copolymer composition is obtained. |
