titleOfInvention Method and device for cryogenic treatment of skin tissue
abstract The present application relates to methods and devices for cryogenically treating skin tissue. Cosmetic methods and devices are provided that provide cooling and/or freezing of skin tissue adjacent to the skin surface to produce a lightened or hypopigmented appearance in the skin. The skin can be cooled to a temperature below about -5 degrees Celsius for about 1 minute or less using a plurality of cold contact surfaces, each having a width of about 2 mm to about 20 mm. A cooling device may be provided for controlled removal of heat from the skin tissue being treated. Sensors can optionally be provided to detect freezing of tissue near the cooling surface.
