abstract |
The foamable aqueous composition can be foamed and applied to a porous substrate to produce a blackout dry opaque element. Such foamable aqueous compositions have 0.05-15 wt% porous particles; at least 20 wt% binder; at least 0.0001 wt% additives (including surfactants); water; and at least 0.001 wt% opaque coloration agent. Each porous particle includes a continuous polymer phase and discrete pores; a mode particle size of 2-50 μm; and a porosity of 20-70 vol%. The continuous polymer phase has a T g >80°C and has a polymer viscosity of 80-500 centipoise at a shear rate of 100 s -1 at a concentration of 20 wt% in ethyl acetate at 25°C. The dry opaque elements have a shade value of at least 4 and have a light reflectance of >40% as measured by the Y tristimulus value. The foaming aqueous composition has a foam density of 0.1-0.5 g/cm 3 . |
