titleOfInvention Infusion catheter
abstract An infusion catheter system can deliver a therapeutic agent to a desired location in the body. The system can include an elongated catheter shaft having a proximal region, a distal region, a distal opening, and a lumen extending between the proximal region and the distal opening. The distal region may include a coiled portion having a pre-formed coiled configuration comprising a plurality of helically wound loops. A plurality of holes may be formed through the sidewall of the coiled portion. A guide wire may be configured to be slidably disposed within the lumen of the catheter shaft. The guidewire may include a proximal region having a first cross-sectional dimension; an enlarged distal region having a second cross-sectional dimension greater than the first cross-sectional dimension; and an intermediate region disposed at the between the proximal region and the distal region.
