A pathogen inactivating fibrous material is coated with a plurality of salt crystals or a layer of salt crystals, the plurality of salt crystals or coatings on the layer of support fibrous material upon exposure to a plurality of pathogenic aerosols dissolves and recrystallizes upon evaporation of moisture from the plurality of pathogenic aerosols. Multiple recrystallizations of the salts inactivate multiple pathogens, and the pathogen-inactivating fibrous material can be used in a sterilizing fabric, an air filtration device, such as a breathing device, a mask, a furnace filter device, an air conditioner, a passenger compartment filter devices, etc., and can provide a general personal protection for infection prevention. |
