abstract The present invention discloses a drug conjugate as a prodrug, which is degraded by cathepsin B specifically expressed in tumor tissues to release doxorubicin. The drug conjugates can form self-assembled nanoparticles. In addition, the drug conjugates specifically respond to and are activated in tumor cells. Therefore, the use of the drug conjugate can reduce the occurrence of side effects (e.g., cell damage and apoptosis) during the prevention or treatment of cancer.
