abstract | The present disclosure relates to WLAN systems with opportunistic transitions to low power states for power management. Embodiments described herein relate to providing reduced power consumption in a wireless communication system, such as an 802.11WLAN system. Timing information regarding Power Saving Opportunities (PSOPs) can be provided in the communication frame that can inform the mobile device of a desired frame exchange period during which to transition to a snooze state. Additional PSOP information may be included within beacon frames that may inform the mobile device of the desired multicast period during which the snooze state may be transitioned. This may operate to improve power consumption. |
