abstract | The invention provides a polymer composition for a liquid crystal alignment film, which can align a polymerizable crystal composition when obtaining a polarizing element with high dichroism. The present invention provides a polymer composition containing (A) a photosensitive side chain type polymer having a dichroic dye in a side chain and exhibiting liquid crystallinity in a specific temperature range, and an organic solvent. The substrate having the liquid crystal alignment film formed of the polymer composition can be obtained as a polarizing element having high dichroism by coating a polymerizable liquid crystal composition on the alignment film, drying the resultant by heating, and if necessary, further irradiating ultraviolet rays. |
