A method for preparing calcium sulfate, comprising: preparing DCP (dicalcium phosphate) by attacking a phosphate source by acid ; Decomposing the separated DCP by sulfuric acid under the condition of a first slurry of gypsum in an acidic aqueous phase of O 5 ; converting at least a portion of said first slurry by heating to a temperature above 80°C and optionally adding sulfuric acid, Dissolving the gypsum crystals and recrystallizing the dissolved calcium sulfate to form a second slurry of a-type calcium sulfate hemihydrate crystals suspended in an aqueous phase of phosphoric acid, wherein the content of free SO3 is less than 10 wt%, and, separating the aqueous phase and consisting of A filter cake formed from particularly pure a-type calcium sulfate hemihydrate. |
