The present invention relates to the field of solid materials for absorbing lithium. In particular, the present invention relates to a new process for the preparation of solid crystalline materials of formula (LiCl) x.2Al (OH) 3.nH2O , preferably shaped in the form of extrudates, wherein n is 0.01 to 10, x is 0.4 to 1, the method comprises: step a), precipitation of boehmite under specific temperature and pH conditions; the step of contacting the obtained precipitate with a specific amount of LiCl; at least one molding step, preferably by Extrusion; the method also includes a final hydrothermal treatment step. When the resulting material is used in a method of extracting lithium from a salt solution, the method overall results in an increase in the lithium adsorption capacity and adsorption kinetics of the resulting material compared to materials obtained from the prior art. |
