The present invention relates to a method of preparing a core-composite shell microcapsule slurry for delivery of hydrophobic active ingredients, such as fragrance components of perfume oils. The method includes forming an outer shell around an inner phase containing the hydrophobic active ingredient by coacervation, and forming an inner shell at the interface between the inner phase and the outer shell by interfacial polymerization. The inner phase contains the hydrophobic active ingredient. Microcapsules are often incorporated into consumer products, wherein the composite shell generally prevents the release of hydrophobic active ingredients until desired during use of the consumer product. |
