Reference electrode using local ambient pH control |
abstract |
A reference system for electrochemical or ion-selective sensors, wherein a reference electrode is coupled to a redox active species for setting low buffer/low buffer close to the reference electrode The pH of the local environment of the volumetric analyte medium. The pH of the low buffer/low buffer capacity closest to the reference electrode is controlled at a pH at least one pH unit higher or at least one pH unit lower than pH7. The voltammetric response of redox-active species is used as a reference and/or reference signal for electrochemical or ion-selective sensors. |
