The present invention provides a method of preparing a boron nitride material, such as Boron Nitride (BN) or Boron Carbonitride (BCN). The method can comprise the following steps: providing a substrate; and subliming the amine borane complex onto the substrate to obtain the boron nitride material. Boron nitride complexes include, but are not limited to, borazine, aminoborane, trimethylamine borane and triethylamine borane. In addition, the temperature at which sublimation is carried out may be varied to control the composition of the boron nitride material formed. In addition, by using the present method, various morphologies, namely, membranes, nanotubes and porous foams, can be obtained. |
