titleOfInvention | Agglomerated zeolitic adsorbents, method for their production and their use |
abstract | The present invention relates to agglomerated zeolitic adsorbents, to a process for their production and to their use. The invention relates to an agglomerated zeolitic adsorbent based on a zeolite X having a Si/Al ratio such as 1.15< Si/Al.ltoreq.1.5 and an inert binder, consisting of crystals having an average diameter of less than or equal to 1.7 [ mu ] m, at least 90% of the exchangeable cationic sites of the zeolite X being occupied by barium ions. They can be obtained by agglomerating zeolite X powder using a binder, then zeolitizing said binder, exchanging the zeolite ions with barium (and potassium) ions and activating the adsorbent thus exchanged. The above adsorbent, which is particularly suitable for adsorbing para-xylene contained in a C8 aromatic hydrocarbon fraction in the liquid phase in a simulated moving bed type process, particularly for separating para-xylene from a C8 aromatic hydrocarbon fraction by adsorption, and for separating sugars, polyols, cresols and substituted toluene isomers, simultaneously exhibits excellent selectivity, reduced mass transfer resistance and mechanical strength. |
