The present invention provides a packaging material for batteries, which has a very thin aluminum alloy foil with a thickness of 40 μm or less, does not easily produce pinholes or cracks during molding, has excellent formability, and has an excellent appearance after molding and is not easily mistaken. It is judged as a defective product, and a defective judgment can be performed with high accuracy. The battery packaging material includes a laminated body having at least a base material layer, an aluminum alloy foil layer, and a heat-sealable resin layer in this order, the aluminum alloy foil layer has a thickness of 40 μm or less, and the aluminum alloy foil layer is based on JIS standard A8021 aluminum alloy, wherein the aluminum alloy has a maximum grain size of 25 μm or less and an average grain size of 10 μm or less. |
