abstract | The present invention relates to curable film-forming compositions having polish resistance and low gloss and methods for improving the polish resistance of substrates. The composition comprises: (a) a polymeric adhesive comprising: (i) a polysiloxane having reactive functional groups and having dispersed therein protonated particles having an average particle size of 2-20 microns Silica particles; and (ii) optionally at least one additional polymeric resin having reactive functional groups other than polysiloxane (i); and (b) a curing agent containing a combination with (i) ) and/or the reactive functional groups of (ii) are reactive functional groups. After application to a substrate as a coating and after curing, the curable film-forming composition has an initial 85° gloss of less than 30 and an increase in 85° gloss when subjected to the various abrasion test methods defined herein Not to exceed 10 gloss units. |
