The present invention relates to a compound represented by general formula (I) or (I') or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; a pharmaceutical composition containing at least one of said compounds; a method for preparing at least one of said compounds; using Methods of treating and/or preventing various cancers and/or proliferative disorders with at least one of said compounds; methods of monitoring the effectiveness of anticancer therapies against various cancers using at least one of said compounds. In one embodiment, the invention relates to compounds that bind to heat shock protein 70 Hsp70 with a certain level of specificity. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to compounds that bind with a certain level of specificity to inhibit heat shock protein 70 Hsp70 and heat shock homologous protein 70 Hsc70.
