titleOfInvention | Branched polyol additives for electrophoretic media |
abstract | An additive for electrophoretic media comprising an ester of a branched polyol and a fatty acid, such as an ester of pentaerythritol propoxylate (5/4PO/OH) and stearic acid. The fatty acid may be saturated or unsaturated, branched or unbranched. In some embodiments, the fatty acid is perfluorinated or partially fluorinated. In some embodiments, the branched polyol will comprise an oligomer of polypropylene oxide or polyethylene oxide. When the additive is included in an electrophoretic medium of a display, the resulting display has improved contrast and reduced ghosting. |
