abstract | The present invention relates to the field of solid materials for absorbing lithium. In particular, the present invention relates to a new process for the preparation of crystalline, shaped solid materials of the formula LiX x .2Al(OH) 3 .nH 2 O, preferably in the form of extrudates, in the form of LiX x .2Al(OH) 3 . nH2O, where n is between 0.01 and 10 , when X is an anion selected from chloride, hydroxide and nitrate, x is equal to 1, and when X is an anion selected from sulfate and carbonate , x is equal to 0.5; the method comprises: under specific temperature and pH conditions, the step a) of precipitating the boehmite; at least one forming step by alkaline mixing, the method also comprises a final hydrothermal treatment step. When used to extract lithium from salt solutions, the method as a whole allows to increase the lithium adsorption capacity as well as the adsorption kinetics of the resulting material compared to prior art materials. |
