More specifically, the present invention provides recombinant plasmids and recombinant hosts for expressing novel gene sequences with cellulase activity. The cellulase of the present invention has high specific activity to substrates such as carboxymethylcellulose and barley-β-glucan etc. β-1,4 bonds. This novel cellulase can have many industrial applications, for example, food and feed industry, detergent, textile and biofuel industry, etc.
